Multi-cloud FinOps reporting centralization and FOCUS standardization

Industrialization of a complex chargeback model and creation of a Snowflake data lake. AWS, GCP and Azure data normalized to the FOCUS specification.

01 Challenges and context

Context and strategic stakes

The organization managed a highly fragmented Multi-Cloud environment (predominantly Azure and GCP, with nascent AWS adoption) and urgently needed to centralize its cost monitoring. The primary challenge lay in industrializing a highly complex internal chargeback model across multiple global subsidiaries, including the delicate allocation of shared and indirect costs, all based on completely heterogeneous billing data.

02 Work carried out

Approach and methodology

We initiated the process by creating a robust enterprise Data Lake based on Snowflake. To overcome the heterogeneity of vendor data, we developed industrialized ETL pipelines to collect, clean, and normalize data from Azure Cost Management, GCP BigQuery, and AWS CUR, strictly applying the FinOps Foundation's open FOCUS standard. This enabled uniform processing of complex services such as AI workloads, containers, and specific storage volumes.

03 Outcomes achieved

Results and indicators

80 users

Users trained

  • Deployment of a single, centralized dashboard covering Azure, GCP, and AWS invoices.

  • Full industrialization of Showback and Chargeback processes with precise shared cost allocation.

  • Massive adoption by over 80 trained users, ensuring sustainable control of FinOps practices.
