Deploying a multi-cloud tagging policy (Azure & GCP)

A standardized taxonomy introduced to allocate Cloud costs precisely. Automated guardrails implemented, with advanced handling of PaaS and AI services.

01 Challenges and context

Context and strategic stakes

A major luxury industrial group urgently needed to regain control over its financial traceability across proliferating Azure and GCP environments. The absence of standardization between production and test environments, coupled with a lack of unified tagging, made cost allocation (Chargeback) impossible. This difficulty was exacerbated by the adoption of dynamic and complex PaaS services (Kubernetes clusters, virtual desktop environments, and generative AI), which require highly specific labeling methodologies.

02 Work carried out

Approach and methodology

We meticulously constructed a unified, agnostic Cloud Tagging Policy strategy, based on five mandatory dimensions: Application (product identifier), Environment (Dev/Prod), Cost Center (Finance), Owner (Business/IT), and Business Unit. This foundational governance document strictly defined naming conventions, justified exemption processes, and automated Shadow IT remediation protocols.
