Context and strategic stakes
Anticipating the entry into force of the CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) in Europe, a major insurance group urgently needed to measure and reduce the environmental footprint of its IT infrastructure. The client lacked complete visibility into the carbon emissions of its Cloud and On-Premise deployments. It was crucial to integrate Scope 1 and 2 monitoring into DevOps cycles, educate engineers on eco-design principles, and align IT operations with the group's overall CSR strategy.

Approach and methodology
We began with a meticulous mapping of CI/CD delivery pipelines to identify greenhouse gas emission sources (Scopes 1 and 2) related to application deployment and operation. By analyzing existing infrastructure management practices, we co-constructed a pragmatic GreenOps strategy, perfectly aligned with European regulatory obligations and the Responsible Digital objectives set by the group's CSR department.
